I am a storyteller, entrepreneur, operator and an angel investor.
I’m the co-founder & Chief Operating Officer at Raive. We are building foundation AI models for image and
video that protects your IP and models that are commercially viable.
I was previously the Chief Strategy Officer at UnitedMasters. I started my career as a journalist and
producer. I was the Executive Editor at NBC News overseeing our business, tech and media coverage, and
the San Francisco Bureau Chief for CNBC. I helped launch CNBC’s first ever tech show, Squawk Alley.
I am a scout for Kleiner Perkins and a Young Global Leader for the World Economic Forum. I’ve been an
advisor to companies such as Kalshi, Breakaway and Mercury/13.
Hi, my name is Sally.
I spent the first decade of my professional career in television and as a journalist. In the midst of the financial crisis, I began my journalism career covering major economics events from the U.S. banking crisis to the European debt crisis. Soon after I witnessed one of the biggest bull cycles in technology and began reporting on major tech IPOs including Facebook, Twitter and Alibaba. It’s hard to forget the feeling of being at the NYSE and NASDAQ on those days, the bravado of the opening bell and the anticipation of that first trade.
It was an exciting time to be in technology and that excitement is still so palpable today. I helped build and launch Squawk Alley, the first tech show on CNBC, and at age 29, I ran CNBC’s San Francisco Bureau as the youngest bureau chief at the network, ever. Following that I was the Executive Editor at NBC News overseeing all of our business, technology and media coverage for broadcast, digital, and digital streaming verticals during one of the most controversial presidential elections of our time and during a once in a lifetime pandemic and economic event of our time.
While understanding connection through visual medium is more of a direct game, connection through audio is a completely new one. After hanging my hat as a journalist, I joined UnitedMasters to help Steve Stoute and our team build a platform to disrupt the music industry. During my time there, we had more than 1.5M independent music creators on the platform who have access to distribution, artist tools and brands to help build a successful music career through a subscription model. I lead our business development, partnerships, corporate development and web3 initiatives as the Chief Strategy Officer. We raised our series C from a16z during my time there, and our other investors include Apple and Alphabet.
Serendipity led me to starting Raive. I was introduced to my co-founders Jonathan and Pablo through an investor who was diligencing the company at its idea phase. They ended up investing, and I ended up joining. We are building foundation AI models for image and video, differentiated by our licensed dataset that makes our models commercially viable, and our combinatoric approach to our model architecture that allows for IP protection. We have a presence in both the U.S. and in France.
I was born in Sydney, Australia and grew up in Germany, The Netherlands, Korea, India and the U.S. After nearly two decades of moving around, I decided to root my energy in New York, and attended both my undergrad and graduate studies there. I double majored in Economics and Journalism at NYU and then got my MBA at Columbia Business School. I currently live in San Francisco with my adorable pup, Marylebone.
I am a Young Global Leader at the World Economic Forum and occasionally lecture at Stanford Graduate School of Business on how entrepreneurs should tell their stories to investors and to the media.
In my free time, I love spending time with entrepreneurs who are on similar journey as me – I am a scout for Kleiner Perkins, focusing on pre-seed and seed deals in consumer & enterprise AI, marketplace, social/media. I gravitate towards technology that brings the world closer together, and companies that think global from day one. I occasionally serve as advisor to startups including Kalshi (fintech - Sequoia, SV Angel), Mercury/13 (sports - Alexis Ohanian) and Breakaway (music - Sony Music, David Solomon).
